The Tradition of the Tatau
In Samoa, the traditional body tattoo, or "tatau," is a symbol of honor, family and courage. At the 2007 Rugby World Cup, PUMA has captured the spirit of the Samoan Tatau by incorporating the traditional pattern and motif from retired rugby legend Freddie Tuilagi onto the actual Team Samoa uniform that the team will wear beginning September 9th in Paris. Samoa Begins Rugby World Cup Campaign
Team Samoa began its Rugby World Cup camp in Leicester, England, this week. They will play English club teams the Harlequins, Northampton and the Sale Sharks over the next two weeks before departing for Paris on August 31st. The team is lead by coach Michael Jones, a former All Black and Samoan rugby legend - and features the Tuilagi brothers, Alex, Andy and Henry.
